In Cagli there is a wide range of cultural activities from art shows to choir concerts.Opera and plays are performed in the magnificent Municipal
Theatre. Cagli is also a centre for organ music - one of the six instruments that the city owns is the oldest working organ in the Marche.
The climax of the summer is at the end of August when, on the evening of "Cagli delle Musiche", musicians perform in every corner of the town.
Up on Monte Petrano, dog lovers gather in mid-June for the Prove Cinofile Nazionali (National Dog Trials) while the Gran Prix di Aquilonismo Acrobatico (Acrobatic Kite-flying Grand
Prix) is held on the last Sunday of July.
Among the area's historical pageants you will find Cagli's Palio Storico Giuoco dell'Oca (The Goose Game) on the
second Sunday of August, with its colourful parade of over 450 townspeople, dressed in Renaissance costume, and the contest in which the city's four quarters each move their
pawns around a 54-square board, fighting contests along the way, to decide who will win the golden goose. On the day before is the Investiture of the Captains and the offering of oil to the votive lamp.
Museums - Cagli's principal museums are at Palazzo Tiranni-Castracane (presently undergoing restoration) and the Archaeological and Flaminian Museum at the Town Hall,
and also the Torrione which houses the Centro Scultura Contemporanea. Museums and archaeological collections are also to be found at Cantiano and Acqualagna, while at
Piobbico and Apecchio you will find Fossil and Mineral Collections.
Religious Festivals - Cagli's Holy Week processions are the most powerful of the religious calendar with rites which
culminate in the Good Friday Processione penitenziale del Cristo Morto in which the 400 members of the City's confraternities, dressed in the habits of their order, and
their heads covered with cowls, walk barefoot in silent penitence behind the massive carriage carrying the effigy of the dead Christ.
